Our client requires the services of a Senior Consultant, to provide deliverables including, but not limited to, the following:

Define and ensure the development and implementation of a comprehensive set of technology principles and standards for IT (eg, buy vs. build, internal/partner/outsource in collaboration with senior IT leaders, in the context of Client's business goals and strategy.

Develop and maintain the application, data, network infrastructure, and associated security standards and architectures with supporting rationale, at both the architecture (concept) level, or at the vendor or product (physical) level as appropriate.

Oversee the creation and maintenance of the enterprise's technology standards documentation (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures).

Ensure enterprise-wide understanding of technology standards and solicits feedback and fosters co-operation.

Promote the benefits of Technology Standards to the organization.

Ensure the development of a comprehensive technology vision aligned with Client's business objectives and goals.

Develop appropriate review processes, approval criteria and gates to ensure the alignment of major development and infrastructure projects with enterprise standards.

Develop and lead a RFP for the procurement of a third party IT Infrastructure Comprehensive Health Check with an annual follow-up.

Establish the evaluation criteria to support buy vs. build, internal/partner/outsource decisions, in collaboration with senior I&IT leaders, and in the context of Client's business goals and strategy. Actively participating in these assessments.

Collaborate with IT PMO Senior and the IT Governance Senior Consultants to design and implement a set of guidelines, processes, and gates to ensure the alignment of major development and infrastructure projects with the enterprise technology standards.

Advocate technical architecture standards and best practices across the I&IT organization, the business, and strategic partners.

Participate in the development and technical review of proposed project solutions to ensure compliance with enterprise standards. Manage exceptions and updates standards where appropriate.

Collect and assess data from appropriate sources to assist in determining how to best meet customer needs and requirements, respond to requests for technical information from stakeholders and establish customer technology solutions by aligning various industry products and technologies into the solution architecture.

Engage in technical problem solving across multiple technologies to best meet the needs of the business; often developing and applying new methods to address the situation.

Coordinate a high-level assessment of the current state of Client's technology against the new standards and makes recommendations on a roadmap for if/when/how to migrate to the new standards over time.

Transfer knowledge to the appropriate Client's IT executive and contribute to other project initiatives or programs assigned by the CIO.

Ensure proper Technology Standards approval processes, methodology, standards, and best practices are consistently applied and tracked through continuous audit and oversight.

Identify engagement and client service issues.

Transition the ongoing development and stewardship of the technology standards to the Client's core I&IT team.

Advocate change management, ensuring that the processes, methods, and disciplines are transferred to I&IT in a reasonable and timely manner.

Required qualifications and experience:

Experience: 20 years minimum

University degree in one of Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration.

MBA or an accounting designation would be an asset. IT certifications in CoBIT, ITIL, project management, networking, and development would be an asset.

15+ years of overall IT experience working in a technical environment in a banking, telecom, major retail, or provincial/federal government at the most senior levels. A minimum of 5+years of experience working as the lead consultant working on a variety of IT major projects or programs over $30 million.

Previous leadership of enterprise programs such as Accounting Systems, Human Resource Systems, Datawarehouse, Business Intelligence Analytics, Customer Relationship Management, E-mail and Document Management Systems, Data Centres, Cloud Computing, Digital Content Management Frameworks, Corporate Web Intranets and Portals Methodologies.

Demonstrated technical leadership in IT Technology Standards experience essential, including teaching, mentoring, and coaching in a team environment.

Demonstrated and thorough understanding of complex information systems. and proven ability to communicate this information to the IT management and client management teams through written correspondence and verbal presentations.

Demonstrated logical, analytic, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills.

In depth knowledge of the IT industry in terms of emerging and enabling technologies.

Executive level communications, including negotiations, consensus and relationship-building, and presentations.
