SDH Backbone Engineer Contract: Brussels
Excellent contract opportunity located in Brussels with a major telecommunications consultancy looking for an SDH Backbone engineer, for a 12 month contract on projects lasting up to 3 years.
My client is looking for a backbone network engineer with in-depth experience on SDH.
The person must have 'engineering' experience as the job is in the engineering department:
service definition & migration, design & implementation, testing, follow up. Hand-on experience on the mentioned platforms below. Also phase-out of SDH in the next years will be part of the activities.
The engineer delivers ad-hoc third level support to Operations department in case a problem is escalated.
So we are not looking for an SDH operations engineer.
The person has to work on site at a telecom operator in Brussels.
Function Description:
- Interface to operational departments to collect operational requirements
- Analysis of the requirements and definition of high level technical solution
- Definition of detailed technical solution design
- Preparation of technical design documentation
- Support to IT development process related to the defined solution
- Realization of test platform and testing of the defined solution and communication towards the vendors/internal customers
- Organise & follow up project coordination meetings with the vendors & internal customers
- Support to operational departments during solution roll out (training, procedures)
- Support to operational departments in case of complex problems & perform simulations of field problems in the lab
Technical Competences:
- Marconi: SMA series 1.2 & 3.2, MSH-51c & MSH-64
- Ericsson: OMS840 & OMS1240 & OMS
- Alcatel: 1640Fox & 1650
- Knowledge SDH measurement equipments
- Knowledge test procedures for SDH HW & SW validation (stand alone & network tests) and interconnection/integration tests & migration procedures
- Languages: Dutch, French and good knowledge of English. English and French are most important.
Plus points:
- Basis knowledge of Ethernet & optical technology
- Good knowledge of TMN platforms
