Matrix is looking for a talented QA engineer to join a local California company.

Job Description:

This Senior Test Engineer role is a hands-on testing position that requires a working knowledge of testing principles, best practices, and business knowledge (specifically in interpretation of business requirements combined with knowledge of Software Quality Assurance practices).

The candidate is expected to be able to follow and participate in testing strategies; provide leadership and create test plans in support of projects.

They must be able to multi-task,supporting multiple projects when needed.

They must be able to work with Business Users to create and define test scenarios for Systems/Product Test, End-to-End and prep for UAT, including critical path analysis for successful project delivery.

The role also requires the candidate to produce test scenarios and repeatable test cases through all parts of the software development life cycle within the DS working model.

Ideally, the candidate will have web application and investment management domain knowledge.

They should also have SQL, XML and UNIX working knowledge.

The candidate should be naturally curious, passionate about solving business problems through high-quality solutions, possess a strong work ethic, and passion for quality assurance/testing.

They must be flexible in meeting the needs of a challenging, fast-paced business environment with the ability to lead project test efforts.

Job Requirements:
Lead the overall testing effort, periodically directing other test engineers in Singapore.
Work closely with developers, business stakeholders and act as an integral part of the software development team using an iterative development process.
Create Test Strategies and/or Test Plans.
Provide test estimates and maintain testing schedules.
Develop test cases, test procedures; and create test data sets. Use automation and other testing tools, as appropriate.
Perform the various types of testing using both black and white-box testing techniques.
Integration testing.
Functional testing.
Qualities attribute testing (eg; Usability, Scalability, Performance, Compatibility, etc.).
User Acceptance Testing assistance as needed, with business partner.
Identify, research, report, track and verify software defects proactively and comprehensively. Participate in root-cause analysis of defects.
Measure software complexity, size, stability, and quality; compute and analyze metrics to identify trends, test coverage, cause-and-effect relationships, etc.
Adopt a rigorous, quantitative approach to measuring and delivering software quality.
Follow BLK IT Testing Policies, create and track DS high risk change applications completing all required artifacts.
Manage the test environment including controlling builds into the environment.
Proven ability to multitask, manage concurrent global project efforts, and work under pressure with minimal supervision in a team environment.

Qualifications and Technical Skills:
Degree B.S. in Technical major or equivalent work experience in the financial services sector.
Strong critical reasoning, verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum of 4-6 years of hands-on testing, as part of a team.
Minimum of 4-6 years total QA experience e in a global environment or global projects with a good understanding of market, static, and reference data.
Minimum of 3-4 years experience in leading software testing and quality assurance, preferably in financial software applications.
Minimum of 3-4 years experience with automation test tools and test frameworks (eg, JUnit, and/or JTest, HP/Mercury QTP and Quality Center or Win/LoadRunner).
4 or more years of exposure to defect reporting and tracking software.
3-4 years experience in following technologies: SQL, RDBMS (Oracle or Sybase) experience performing data integrity and data point validation according to DB schema, and DB consumer validation testing. Informatica is a +. UNIX, Windows, XML, Java, Application Server (Weblogic or JBoss), Messaging, and IBM MQ Series experience.
Ideally have 1-2 years of proactive mentoring of other testers with a focus on quality improvement.
Passion for solving investment business problems through the use of technology, with enthusiasm for learning.
Continuous integration build and testing methods (eg Cruise Control).
Prefer knowledge and experience in Test-Driven Development.
Proficient in testing complex systems involving multiple application layers (3 or more).
Knowledge and experience of working with Agile & Waterfall development methods.
Knowledge of component based development and web services.
Awareness of current technological trends especially in testing techniques.
Advanced knowledge of testing techniques and methodologies.
Understand the value of test synergies for economies of scale.
