Our client, a large public sector organisation based in Birmingham has an immediate opportunity for an Organisational Development Manager to join their team on a 6 month contract.

Purpose of the role:

  • To work with the HR Director to align organisational capability and culture to achieve organisational goals.
  • You will be responsible for assessing organisational needs and resourcing demands and in addition plan development activities to deliver a high performance culture. You will also be responsible for developing an appraisal scheme, setting up a staff survey and conducting a support values exercise.

As the OD Manager you will take on the following key tasks:

  • Lead and manage the organisations OD activities to address the development of people, performance and leadership, ensuring alignment with strategic aims during a period of significant change.
  • To identify corporate OD goals, including new and emerging issues, and agree priorities annually with the Director of Human Resources and the Vice Chancellor.
  • To ensure that career development and succession planning frameworks are designed and implemented to facilitate future organisational capability requirements, within an equal opportunities framework, and to work with Directors of Service to develop related plans.
  • Ensure the organisation operates effective and robust processes for managing performance, motivation and development to promote a high performance culture, through the design and implementation of appropriate probation, appraisal and reward mechanisms.
  • To implement systems and interventions for particular employee groups.
  • Design, delivery, roll-out and evaluation of programmes for leadership and management development targeted at particular groups.
  • Lead/participate in the organisations wide initiatives, developments and projects, which support the management of change, for example Investors in People, and to assist those departments who have achieved IIP to continue and advise on roll-out across the organisation
  • Devise schemes for secondment, coaching and mentoring of staff.
  • Support the delivery of the organisations equal opportunity and statutory public sector duties by the design, commission and delivery, as necessary, of appropriate development interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external learning and development providers to ensure that identified development needs are met, aligned with corporate goals, and evaluate their contribution.
  • To have overall management of the corporate staff development budget, ensuring expenditure is in accordance with delegated authority, financial regulations and is value for money.

As the ideal candidate, you will have demonstrated transferable experience in the majority of the above accountabilities, have strong Training & Development experience and be CIPD qualified.
