Key accountabilities

  • As most member and third party compliance issues are highly contentious, involving considerable commercial interests and merchant relationships, it is expected that candidates are able to demonstrate solid experience in successful negotiations at a relatively senior level.

Key Accountabilities are:

  • Effective operational management of Third Party Risk Management
  • Communicate and implement decisions by the Compliance Council
  • Ensure that Members' expectations are understood, and that the expectations and requirements are clearly communicated and adhered to Include presenting complex issues at such forums as the Compliance Council.
  • Engage with, and win support of, key stakeholders (both internal and external) for approach to managing the risk associated with the Third Party Agent environment
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert with respect to Third Party Risk Management. Provide knowledge base and tailored education and awareness raising to reduce the risks associated with the Third Party Agent environment
  • Support Management to manage External Communications & Crisis Management to ensure that the client has credible public positions and messages on issues relating to management of third party risk, and the integrity of the payment system and that adequate information is available to key decision-makers
  • Act as credible and inspiring Team Member to increase value of team contribution, ensure motivation, and create adaptable, flexible and committed team dynamic

The role entails a minimal amount of travel and the role itself reports to the Head of Acceptance Risk Programmes, within Risk Compliance and Corporate Services.

Essential criteria

  • Extensive knowledge of payment system, and the acceptance environment
  • Knowledge of the payment System, its governance principles and compliance framework
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS
  • Knowledge of the four party payment model, as well as the role and risks associated with non-traditional players (third parties)
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills - gaining consent from other stakeholders to promote Third Party Risk Management policies and objectives
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Strong experience of direct management of customers and stakeholders
  • Ability to influence senior management and key stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Experience in managing challenging, complex and sensitive situations - maintaining a clear business position whilst managing relationships
  • Experience in managing cultural sensitivities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and gain consensus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
