Our Irving area client is seeking an experienced SharePoint Architect for a long-term contract opportunity.

An effective SharePoint Solution Architect will have 7+ years experience as a Solution Architect in the analysis, design, hands-on development and delivery of web-based applications. In addition, a SharePoint Solution Architect will have 4+ years experience with SharePoint Technologies (Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, Office SharePoint Server 2007, InfoPath, Forms Services, Excel Services, Search, Business Data Catalog and Web Services) in a variety of business environments. Experience with earlier releases of SharePoint is highly valued.

The SharePoint Architect will be a SharePoint Subject Matter Expert (SME), able to interact with all areas of the business for the purpose of maintaining work backlog, timelines, and priorities SharePoint related issues at a project and system level. As a SharePoint SME, must be able to train and mentor existing staff to increase their skill set to match the requirements of SharePoint implemented projects.

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be an expert in the following areas:

  • .Net.
  • All aspects of SharePoint 2007 and 2010.
  • Farm deployment and management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • At a project level take responsibility for guiding the technical direction of SharePoint projects and the manner in which work is conducted.
  • Communicate with the SharePoint Team Manager and ensure product direction, quality expectations and sourcing of talent for projects.
  • Communicate with project and portfolio managers to ensure that projects are meeting deadlines.
  • Identify ways and implement strategies utilizing SharePoint as a platform to accomplish strategic goals and support the sales effort.
  • Conduct feasibility of utilizing SharePoint for projects and ensure that VHA is maximizing the return on the SharePoint investment.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the SharePoint environment, and make formal recommendations to Senior Management on how to accomplish them
  • Provide training and mentoring to increase the skill set of existing staff to minimize the need for contract resources.
  • Perform reviews of the SharePoint projects for QA/QC.
  • Establish and maintain guidelines and standards for all SharePoint development in the enterprise.

Leadership and architecture experience and skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Business analysis and business process understanding.
  • Strong ability to assist clients with business requirements for their SharePoint and Office System based solutions and create the appropriate information architecture, taxonomy and solution approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of business both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience working with and presenting to C-level executives.
  • Ability to lead complete software development life cycle, including analysis, design, configuring, programming and unit testing for information worker applications based on Microsoft technologies.
  • Experience producing end-user and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with users and executives to expand the use of SharePoint to address business issues.
  • Can help others in the organization with SharePoint knowledge at a level of understanding appropriate to their job function.
  • Ability to know when SharePoint is not the right solution for a business problem and can communicate this effectively.

Technical SharePoint-specific experience and skills:

  • Must possess an in depth understanding of the capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server .
  • Knowledge must include architectural design, web parts development, management and troubleshooting with a focus on planning, deploying and supporting enterprise SharePoint implementations.
  • In depth experience with Collaboration, Portals, Enterprise Search, Enterprise Content Management, Business Process and Forms, and/or Business Intelligence.
  • SharePoint experience must include SharePoint Designer workflows, effective use of the data view web part (DVWP), content query web part, data form web part, navigation customization, and some branding customization.
  • Web development experience (HTML, CSS, XSL, XSLT, JavaScript) is required.
    Experience with SharePoint templates (site templates, list templates, master page customization) is required.
  • Experience configuring and working with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) and SQL Server is required.
  • Experience with server installation, performance tuning is not required but valued.
