Modis is currently seeking a Senior Java Developer for an exciting long-term contract opportunity with our large capital markets/hedge fund client, located downtown Chicago.
This role will be working in a smaller-size hedge fund and alternative investments group. This primary responsibility of this role will be to design, develop, test and deploy software tools used by Front Office traders and portfolio managers. These tools will provide major enhancements for global trading initiatives, including more advanced analytics and Real Time portfolio management, profit & loss capabilities.
Candidates MUST have 3-4 years of Capital Markets/trading industry experience with in-depth knowledge of Front Office trading.
Technically, candidates must have strong Core Java (both Server Side and Front End GUI).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working side by side with Front Office traders and Portfolio Managers to identify and gather requirements to enhance, modify or develop new trading tools.
- Developing the software tools using Core Java (Server Side & Front End tools)
- Working with Java Swing/JIDE or other GUI tools to create a practical and appealing user interface.
- Integrating the tools with Bloomberg, Thomson-Reuters or other leading market data/trading applications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Required Bachelors Degree in Computer Science
- 4-6+ years of IT experience within the Capital Markets/Trading industry
- Strong knowledge of Object Oriented programming in Core Java
- Experience with RDBMS, preferably Sybase or Oracle
- Preferred: Strong Perl/Python Scripting within RHEL platforms
