OVERVIEW:

  • Engineer, configure, and monitor Solaris Zones
  • Monitor performance of Solaris Zones and ensure all Service Level Agreements are met
  • Validate server builds performed by the build team meet the project teams requirements and confirm with the Minimum Security Baseline
  • Research and track down support issues as related to the server platform and provide Root Cause Analysis to project team
  • Collaborate with application development team for software install and configuration activity and be able to work with personnel in different time zones
  • Utilize Centrify Direct Control to assist application team with Identity and Access management processes and issues
  • Provide guidance to application team on client security best practices as related to server platforms
  • Act as customer liaison for all server platform specific technical issues and questions related to infrastructure
  • Provide and implement tactical Engineering processes for existing Platform technology solutions and deliver Operating System and 3rd party product updates, testing and document solutions and software deployment utilities as related to the project
  • Provide Engineering support for Compliance, Identify and Access Management, Audit, Security, DMZ, Patch Vulnerability and Disaster Recovery related projects
  • Implement all installation and configuration changes using internal processes (RFC, Change Control, etc) utilizing HP Open View Service Center
  • Effectively communicate project deliverables to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion; liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, determine impact on time, quality, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Integrate and transition newly engineered services/solutions into the production environment and provide training, turnover and required documentation
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Extensive experience in engineering, configuring and administering Solaris Zones absolutely a must
  • Deep knowledge of all aspects of Solaris Zones including zone states, zone control commands, resource management, zone components adding resources, zone models, etc. absolutely a must
  • Progressive experience in IT and/or Platform Engineering experience in a Fortune 500 company
  • Level 3 Senior Platform Engineering experience (5-10+ years)
  • Extensive experience in supporting Oracle Applications on Solaris
  • Experience performing Infrastructure environmental reviews, implementation reviews, stress testing, tuning, upgrades and migrations of Oracle Application infrastructure solutions
  • In-depth hands on working knowledge for architecting solutions with Oracle Weblogic on Solaris
  • Architecting high availability solutions using Veritas Cluster Server for Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) on Solaris
  • Complex Solaris debugging, performance, Kernel tracing and tuning, advanced C, Perl programming and KSH Scripting
  • Extensive knowledge in Software Engineering and software life cycle management related to qualification, packaging, release and deployment of Solaris products
  • Strong technical and hands on experience with engineering, qualifying, integrating and transitioning to production Operating System builds and patch packages for Solaris and third party tools
  • Extensive knowledge in High Availability Clustering and RAC Solutions for local and global site failover including Veritas Cluster Server, Veritas Volume Replicator, Global Cluster Manager, MC Service Guard, RedHat Cluster, CRS/ASM and associated Storage, VLAN and Network configurations related to setting up attended and unattended failovers
  • Extensive experience in areas such as Operating Systems, Kernel and application core dump analysis, Virtual and Physical memory subsystems, device drivers and loadable modules, filesystem tuning, Dtrace, SystemTAP, Kdump, Strace, Truss, ADB, KADB MDB and Kstats, performance, resource management, virtualization, Kernel tracing and tuning, Flasharchive and Ignite system recovery and other 3rd party tools
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, Ethernet, Unix Network Administration, Unix Network Tuning using Kernel parameters and Content Service Switch (CSS) tiered infrastructure configurations
  • Extensive knowledge with various Filesystem technologies, Volume Management and disk multi-pathing technologies including Storage Foundation for Oracle Enterprise/DMP, LVM2, Leadville and Emulex LPFC HBA Drviers, MPXIO, MPIO, Powerpath, Solaris Volume Manager, CFS, ZFS, EXT3, UFS, VxFS, AFS and underlying Vnode interfaces
  • Experience in Platform Technology systems using Virtualization technologies such as Linux V-Server, Solaris Zones and Logical Domains, Solaris Physical Domains, Solaris X86 in a Virtual Machine, HP_UX and RedHat Linux Virtual Machines, HP_UX nPars, vPars and HPVMS, Cloud Computing and Adaptive infrastructure, XEN and VMware
  • Must have extensive experience with large-scale enterprise environments and related hardware/software Platform Technologies (Sun M9000, M8000, M5000, E25K, T5240, T5440, IBM x3950 and HP Superdome)
  • Ability to communicate relevant technical information about these platforms effectively to audiences ranging from Technical Subject Matter Experts and Business Units to Application teams and Senior Management
  • Strong knowledge of High End Server System Controller software including SMS for (E25K) and XSCF for (M9000/M8000)
  • Experience with Active Directory authentication, authorization, Name Services and security tools including (Sudo, PowerBroker, DMZ build hardening, RBAC, DNS, NIS, Netgroups, Automounter, Centrify, Tripwire, NFS, and LDAP, SE_Linux, and Solaris Security Toolkit SST/JASS)
  • Strong Operations and Datacenter background
  • Strong understanding of storage solutions (SAN, NAS) as they relate to Solaris systems including replication tools such as SRDF, Widesky (BCVs), VVR, Snap-Mirror, Oracle DataGuard and other Array based replication
  • Familiarity with Storage Arrays such as EMC DMX, Clariion, IBM XIV, HP and Sun Storage Solutions, NetApp filers
  • Experience with SunMC, Legato Networker and RMAN, UC4, Autosys, SysEdge for scheduling, backup and monitoring
  • Experience working on SOX, KPMG and Datacenter Audits
  • Strong understanding of disaster recovery planning and execution as it relates to UNIX systems recovery
  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as other standard business tools such as Visio, MS Project, Acrobat
  • Ability to understand and use client and web based applications in support of standard processes; ie Service Center, Ariba, HPC and demonstrated ability to interact comfortably with all levels of management and colleagues
