Duties and Responsibilities

  • To design electrical products and system including the production of product definitions, detailed technical design data & component selection
  • To integrate & verify electrical products & systems including supporting products through environmental and EMC qualification test.
  • To diagnose and solve design problems in existing products.
  • To prepare for and participate in design reviews.

Scope of responsibilities

  • To carry out electrical product and system design on electrical power distribution products.
  • To work to company and industry standards and design processes
  • Implementation and/or modification of product designs
  • The ability to produce design calculations to demonstrate design performance.

Required

  • Experience of electrical power distribution and power systems design of AC and/or DC systems up to 100KVA)
  • Specification and selection of components
  • Electrical design of products including selection of wiring, relays, contactors, circuit breakers and electrical panels.
  • Supplier technical liaison
  • Technical problem solving and diagnosis skills
  • Power distribution, switching and control
  • Experience of working within a recognised quality system
  • Able to clearly formulate and communicate complex design concepts.
  • Having the organisational skills to deliver to budget and schedule with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to interface directly with customers

Ideally with

  • Aerospace power distribution experience
  • Aerospace wiring practice.
  • Understanding of safety and reliability concepts
  • Understanding of thermal issues associated with electrical power systems
