Description:
Knowledgeable, creative, hardworking individual to provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced operations environment supporting a 24x7x365 mission critical Windows (70%) and Linux (30%) Servers environment.
- The Senior Systems administrator is responsible for day-to-day operational maintenance, support, OS installations and upgrades for enterprise Servers.
- Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
- On call support will be required for troubleshooting or pre-planned maintenance on production systems.
Essential Duties/Qualifications:
- Detect, diagnose, and report Windows and Linux related problems.
- Responsible for building, maintaining and troubleshooting Windows and Unix/Linux based systems.
- Ensure system availability and backups are maintained in accordance to SLAs.
- Lead projects related to complex system implementation and enhancements.
- Work closely with the Project Management Office to deliver projects and tasks in a timely manner.
- Document processes, participate in meetings and provide weekly reports.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience supporting Windows Servers ) in a large enterprise Data Center environment with 300+ Servers.
- 4+ years of experience supporting Linux (Red Hat/CentOS/Debian).
- 4+ years of experience supporting FreeBSD.
- 4 year Degree in a computer related field or additional work experience may be substituted for education requirement.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP.
- Knowledge of IBM, HP, and Dell hardware.
- Working knowledge of one or more Scripting languages (Perl, Python, Bash, Korn Shell).
- Ability to install and maintain various open source software packages.
- Working knowledge of PXE, KickStart, Satellite and SpaceWalk server.
- Must have a high degree of professionalism and a demonstrated enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Advanced knowledge of web server troubleshooting tools and techniques.
- Must be able to work independently, quickly comprehend new technologies, and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Working knowledge of PowerShell.
- Experience using expect Scripting.
- Experience using revision control systems such as git or RCS.
