Description
Modis is currently seeking a Windows Configuration Engineer for an exciting long-term contract opportunity with our large energy client located in the Western Chicago suburbs (Naperville/Warrenville area).
This is a multi-year project to enhance the security of all Windows-based infrastructure components at our client's nuclear energy facilities across the US. Contract duration is estimated at a minimum of 12-24 months with likely extension past that point.
Candidates need to have solid skills in creating and testing baseline configurations for a wide range of Windows desktop appliances/software products, with a focus on ensuring top-notch security and documentation.
Daily responsibilities will include:
- Working in a lab environment to test and certify configurations on Windows Servers, SQL Server Databases, desktops and laptops, fiber and copper-based cables, Ethernet cards, security card readers as well as a long list of desktop software applications: Symantec Endpoint, Symantec Ghost, MS Office, etc.
- Creating master imaging template (Golden Image) that can be reused to rapidly configure server and Workstation equipment for production
- Conducting formal tests on the configurations in a lab environment to ensure functionality and quality.
- Creating SOPs and documentation on all pre-deployment activities.
- Finalizing, approving and shipping all equipment to our customer sites
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Required 5+ years in IT
- Expert experience configuring Windows Server, SQL Server equipment
- Strengths in creating master ghost images (Golden Image) using Symantec Ghost or similar tools
- Experience configuring and testing a large number of desktop and laptop devices (2000+)
- Strong documentation skills
