An excellent long term contract opportunity that offers personal development and career progression within a large and successful Oil and Gas operator. Candidates must have extensive GIS experience ideally gained within an Oil and Gas operator. Candidates must also have experience with Geoscience E&P applications and extensive experience of ArcGIS desktop and extensions.
The Role:
Act as an Embedded resource within the Development/Subsurface teams and as a senior member to the GIS Services team. Participate in the continued growth towards the organisations global Enterprise GIS strategy. Provide one-on-one assistance to the business units in the form of GIS analysis, mapping, and spatial data management support. Understand the needs of the E&P business units and recommend GIS solutions, working with the GIS Team Lead to implement new solutions.
Work directly with the Development and Exploration business units to satisfy their GIS requirements. Identify business needs and suggest ways GIS can be used to enhance business activities; educate the business on the possibilities of using advanced GIS tools for analysis of data, spatial Datamodelling, and other GIS tasks. Use GIS tools to create and manage spatial data, perform data analysis and create maps. Work with the GIS Team Lead to help carry out GIS projects, including the ongoing global Enterprise GIS project and be comfortable suggesting new technology to the GIS team.
Qualifications:
* Minimum Bachelor's Degree in GIS (or equivalent), or Degree in Geosciences with GIS training/education
* Previous work experience as a GIS Analyst/Specialist
* Previous experience working in either Exploration or Development business units in a petroleum company
* ESRI GIS course certification is preferred
Skills/Experience:
* GIS experience; extensive experience with ArcGIS desktop and extensions
* Good understanding of geodetics and coordinate reference systems including transformations; must be able to verify data location accuracy
* Must have experience working with Geoscience E&P applications and/or data sources
* Understanding of GIS tools and data available to a petroleum company
* The willingness and flexibility to work with a variety of people at all levels of the organisation
* High standards of excellence and attention to detail
