OVERVIEW:
This position is with the team that is ultimately responsible for all Linux/Unix Servers on the client network. The candidate must have relevant experience to plan and accomplish goals, and to be able to execute all assigned tickets/projects quickly and efficiently. This position will work 7pm to 7am rotating days.
General tasks will include:
- Mounting shares
- Setting up/editing cron jobs
- Installing software
- Performing health checks
- Installing system upgrades, patches, and resolving OS level related problems
- Checking/fixing file system errors
- General remote server/OS troubleshooting
- System backups and recovery and remediating any backup or restore related issues using NetBackup
- Following instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
- Working under general supervision
- Leveraging creativity and a certain degree of latitude
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to support Unix Servers remotely
- Familiarity with HP Rack/Blade hardware
- Familiarity with VMware systems
- Working knowledge of various server related Unix/Linux (RedHat, Solaris, AIX, HPUX) Working knowledge of Unix/Linux clustering
- Working knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, various network protocols
- Ability to multitask and work at a fast pace
- Ability to create/maintain documented processes
- Professional with communication and appearance
- Strong sense of unity as a team
- Knowledge of HP hardware a plus
- Working knowledge of Netbackup software a plus
Certifications a plus but not required
