Our Dallas Client is seeking a Systems Engineer (Windows Server) for a contract to hire opportunity.
This position will be responsible for installation and configuration of our client's enterprise Windows server environment. Candidates must have strong communication skills, and the desire to work in a fast paced environment.
- Assist with planning and development of long term strategic goals for Windows Server systems in conjunction with other enterprise infrastructure and business application teams.
- Implement and maintain Windows Server systems that follow industry best practices to meet corporate objectives.
- Ensure Windows system security through secure system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations.
- Monitor all Windows Server systems for hardware, software, and performance problems. Troubleshoot, test, and tune all Windows Server systems for high availability and optimal performance.
- Review and deploy Microsoft supplied security patches according to best practices.
- Implement and monitor system backups in coordination with Enterprise Storage team. Perform and test system configuration and data backups and restores to ensure system recovery from error or outage.
- College degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience in an enterprise IT support environment. (Equivalent work experience = 2 years experience for every year of higher education).
- Industry certifications are preferred (MCITP: Enterprise Administrator/MCSE 2003/VCP3 or 4).
- Strong systems engineering skills with an emphasis on enterprise scale architecture.
- 1-4 years experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server operating systems. Experience should include support of Windows 2003 and/or 2008 as well as Active Directory.
- Experience working with VMware server virtualization desired. Experience with VMware 3.x or Vsphere is a plus.
- Equipment support experience with HP/Compaq server hardware platform, including HP Proliant blade Servers. Experience with EMC and/or HP storage area networks are a plus.
- VBScript and/or Powershell Scripting skills is a plus.
- Understanding of network fundamentals.
