Procurement Consultant is required for contract position based in Liverpool, you will be an experienced professional with previous experience of Purchasing, EU procurement directives, and ideally be a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).

Main Purpose of the Job

To develop, agree and implement specific procurement strategies with a heavy bias on technically complex engineering goods and services, and a spend responsibility in excess of £100M, to obtain best value for money and sustainable cost reductions. The specific purchase areas include capital engineering equipment, large services contracts and large capital construction projects.
To ensure that the Company's requirements are sourced from the right suppliers utilising the right contractual and commercial arrangements which recognise and mitigate risk
To lead and manage the procurement of all third party goods and services within their category (ies) of spend, to ensure that all aspects of procurement and supplier management within the relevant category is carried out in a capable, thorough and professional manner in order to achieve business targets and to realise best value for money and to optimise the profit of the company

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
Educated to degree level or equivalent preferred.

  • Appropriate knowledge of relevant markets and products/services.
  • Ability to lead, manage and develop a procurement team.
  • Ability to supervise and manage a team including the delegation of work.
  • In-depth experience of delivering large multi dimensional commercial contracts.
  • Good working knowledge of EU procurement directives is essential.
  • Excellent, communicating, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Well-developed planning and organisation skills.
  • Ability to make high-level decisions within tight timescales.
  • Team leader with the ability to lead, motivate and direct a team of professional staff.
  • Highly numerate and computer literate
