Description
Configuration Managers needed including a Senior Configuration Manager/Architect and a Mid-Level Configuration Manager. These are new positions at a profitable $400 million healthcare software/SaaS services corporation having a development facility in the Denver, CO area. These positions start with a 3 to 6 month contract and then are scheduled to convert to be a PERMANENT FULL-TIME position.
Responsibilities may include:
- Responsible for overall execution of build and deploy activities in the QA and production environments, including directing CM activities of other team members as needed.
- Lead architecture discussions for the build system and create automated build/deploy scripts and procedures.
- Administer and customize/extend SCM tools; train internal users.
- Participate in development of custom build and deployment tools.
- Take a lead role in research, evaluation, and recommendation of CM tools.
- Coordinate operating standards among CM engineers, including build/deployment methodologies, automation, and documentation.
- Review and create standards for technical entries in CM build and deployment documentation.
- Recommend and implement risk mitigation strategies to keep projects on target.
- Recommend CM process improvements; lead process improvement implementation.
- Negotiate and coordinate project milestone dates with team leaders, Engineering Managers and Program Managers.
- Participate in specification document reviews as required.
- Act as a mentor and train less-experience staff members.
- Provide input for justifications and proposals for CM equipment and CM projects.
- Participate in interviewing process and provide input for candidate selection.
- Stay abreast of new technologies in the industry.
- Represent CM on cross-functional project teams and scrums.
- Work with Development to ensure established configuration procedures are followed.
- Follow established procedures for archiving to ensure audibility of product releases.
- Communicate status on a periodic basis in written/verbal format as required.
- Follow the Product Development Methodology.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with Development, QA and other applicable departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Attributes:
- Configuration management or Release Management or Build Engineering
- Jenkins or Hudson Continuous Integration Tools (similar tools are CruiseControl, Hudson, Bamboo, BuildMaster, AnthillPro, Teamcity)
- ANT or MAVEN build automation tools (similar tools are Groovey, Grails Ant, Maven, MSBuild, OpenMake Meister, IBM Rational Build Forge)
- Perl, or other UNIX Shell Scripting
- Subversion or Mercurial version control system (Git is a similar tool)
- Linux, or Solaris, or UNIX
- Oracle
- Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery System - designing and implementing
- Agile software development
- Java, J2EE - basic understanding architecture (hands on development not necessary)
- Chef preferred - or willingness to learn
- Puppet preferred - or willingness to learn
- Cognos preferred - or willingness to learn
