A Usability Research Assistant provides the infrastructure to help support User Research on games and entertainment products. These tools will assist User Researchers in answering central questions such as "What is fun?" and how to make games more fun.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule playtest studies
  • Maintain constant communication between schedulers and stakeholders
  • Construct playtest surveys from pre-defined modules
  • Troubleshoot and propagate builds
  • Track and communicate participant show rates
  • Oversee communication regarding, and processing of, test documentation
  • Move and organize data query results into correctly formatted summaries
  • Create, and ensure accuracy of, various graphs and tables for data reporting purposes
  • May also perform a variety of complex administrative and/or operations tasks, maintain tools, contribute to reporting as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have experience in HCI, Human Factors, or User Research
  • MA/MS or Ph.D. in HCI/HFE, or related field required
  • General knowledge of popular computer and video games and game culture required
  • Must be a GAMER PC and/or current gaming consoles
  • General knowledge of, and working experience with, human observational research, experimental design, and questionnaire research
  • Must have experience in major research projects that involved running tests and analysing data
  • Experience working in an applied research or product development environment
  • Ability to present results to critical audiences
  • Must be able to work quickly and independently
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills - including the ability to communicate with, and persuade, varied audiences and argue for results (both verbally and in writing)
  • HCI/HFE a plus
