Job Title: Product Development HW Engineer

Description:

General Responsibilities:

As a member of the Verizon Innovation Center Product Development and Integration organization you will be responsible for working with internal and external teams and customers to integrate WWAN into broad categories of devices.

Execute and develop work flows and processes between varied VZW groups in all aspects of device testing and development.

Such work flows include interpreting device requirements, test plans, test execution and analysis of technical issues.

The preferred candidate must:

Be a self-starter, highly-organized, and skilled at driving technical projects through development to commercialization.

Demonstrate expertise in a variety of wireless technologies including: CDMA, Legacy 3GPP, 4G LTE, WiFi, and ancillary technologies eg UICC/SIM, PCIe, IMS, USB.

Have a proven track record of trouble-shooting and testing wireless devices with a solid understanding of best design practices for RF conformance.

Establish working relationships with device manufacturers, test equipment vendors, and 3rd party labs.

Work with state of the art automated test platforms, understand and interpret the outputs of VZW and Telecom Industry (3GPP, CTIA) test plans executed on these platforms.

Work collaboratively in a team environment, exercising good communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

Partner with Technical Leads and Test Engineers with integration and verification of 3G/4G technology into diverse categories of devices. Background in testing to Telecom Industry Standards (EIA/TIA-GPP/3GPP2/CCF/LTE)

Functionally operate and configure of RF/Wireless test and measurement equipment:

Agilent 8960, 8753D

Spirent 3452/AirAccess Test Platforms/AT4, R&S CMU200/CMW500, Anritsu MT8820C

Utilize LTE/CDMA/EVDO diagnostic monitor tools including Qualcomm's QXDM, Spirent's UDM, Wireshark to support troubleshooting activities.

Support dedicated Test Engineers with Pre-certification activities, providing technical guidance and issue resolution as needed.

Use developed PC skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) to provide updates to Engineering/Program Manager(s) and summary reports to customers.

Ability to train others on technical and non-technical subjects when required.

Skills and Education:

Education: 4-year degree BSEE/BSCS/BSCE with a strong background in wireless devices or 2-year degree ASEE with equivalent work experience.

Good mobile telecommunications industry knowledge, preferably including expertise with handset manufacturers, network equipment vendors, chipset vendors, and/or test equipment vendors.

Background working in a Product Development environment, focused on HW/SW integration.

Understanding of Radiated Performance measurements and RF techniques.
