Our client is currently looking for a network engineer with strong UNIX/Linux systems experience that can maintain Firewall and VPN configurations. You will show previous experience in managing switch and Router configurations with ease. You must be equally versatile performing UNIX, Linux and SAN system administration functions. You should have the ability to support both HPUX and Linux systems including installations, upgrades, tuning, and problem resolution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage network devices & software, including maintenance, monitoring and backup ofcurrent running configurations for: Routers, Load balancers, Switches Wireless Access Points
  • Firewalls, including corporate edge Firewalls, remote office Firewalls, and Production Firewalls. VPN connections, including corporate and customers.
  • Install, manage and maintain various UNIX/Linux Servers, on blade technology.
  • Manage and deploy virtualization technology, in particular XEN virtualization.
  • Proactive monitoring of all Servers, applications network devices and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA's. HP Open View experience is a plus.
  • Storage Engineering to maintain SAN/NAS storage.
  • Participate in on call rotation to support both internal and production requirements.
  • Rigorously create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the rest of the IT team to meet the team objectives

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Experience with SUSE Linux and HP UX strongly desirable.
  • 5+years experience networking, in a Cisco environment
  • 5+years experience in UNIX/Linux systems administration (8+ preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting of UNIX operating systems and Cisco Network devices
  • Ability to write scripts in Perl or Shell
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently.
