Worldwide leader in technology seeks an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join their growing team. Initially a 12+ month contract to join this global team based in North/West Sydney.
This role is for enterprise automation initiatives dealing with a large UNIX and Linux fleet.
The major responsibilities of the UNIX Administration, Technical Services position encompasses Service Delivery, Delivery Operations and includes:
- Assist in defining, installing and maintaining Midrange unix Servers.
- Ability to lead from a technical perspective enterprise wide automation projects.
- Lead solution design and development of automation initiatives.
- Undertake lead role in proactive resolution of system related problems.
- Suggests and/or implements solutions to resolve problems and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Interfaces with 3rd party support vendors for problem resolution.
- Gather information to assist in the analysis of client business requirements.
- Under direction, utilises a proven technology to plan, organise, design, install, operate and maintain complex systems.
- Good knowledge of SUN UNIX hardware platforms particularly E25K.
- Strong UNIX and Linux fundamentals
- Good understanding of software upgrade/migration process
- Assume knowledge of the underlying infrastructure (NAS, SAN, VxVM, VCS)
- Tivoli Monitoring and deployment
- Windows Scripting - VB, JavaScript, batch:
- Strong skills in PERL and/or SHELL programming experience( core requirement)
- Strong skills in AWK, SED, Bourne
- Understanding of computer security principles and practices
