General Summary:
Provides services in support of campus-approved computer hardware and software within the guidelines of college and departmental policies and procedures. Reports to the user services manager or other designated person and works with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, outside technical support personnel, and vendors to provide technical and desktop support to the computing community at Agnes Scott.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides comprehensive hardware support including configuration, installation, delivering, upgrading, troubleshooting, or repairing.
  • Provides comprehensive software support including installing, maintaining, upgrading and troubleshooting.
  • Provides desktop hardware and software network-related support, configuration and maintenance.
  • Responsible for ITS Help Desk operations on a rotating schedule, serving as central point of contact for end-user information technology problems and requests
  • Provides support and troubleshooting training for departmental student assistants.
  • Provides departmental consulting services for special projects, serving as project manager when necessary.
  • Develops support standard operating procedures and documentation for internal and campus-wide use
  • Develops and provides technical training programs and initiatives involving faculty, staff and students in group and one-on-one situations
  • Assists with software and hardware research and development.
  • Attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
  • Assists with annual desktop computer inventory.
  • Requirements

    Education: Two-year college or trade/technical school degree in related occupational field of study.

    Experience: Minimum of 2 years work experience with other employers, plus 6 months training time at ASC, for a total of 1-3 years.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Experience and proficiency in microcomputer systems and associated software in a networked academic environment to include: Apple and Intel hardware; Window and OS X operating systems
    • Good problem solving, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to maintain confidentiality.

    Other:

    • On-call hours are required.

    Physical Demands

    Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office.
