Our Cleveland based client is seeking a Mid Level SQL Database Administrator for a contract to hire position. The Database Administrator functions as a team member in the planning, development and implementation of database environments to include data definition structure, documentation of databases, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection activities. Assists the Senior Database Administrator in establishing database standards and guidelines, assuring the quality of database deliverables and working with development teams to support database needs.

Essential Duties:

Performs database system management functions (eg, software installs, version upgrades and configuration management, security).

Implements data models, database structure design, database documentation, backup and recovery processes.

Verifies that all data to be entered into database meets set standards and requirements.

Identifies, tests, and resolves database performance issues (eg, monitoring and tuning).

Implements business rules via stored procedures, Middleware or other technology.

Performs data transfer/manipulation using linked Servers, DTS/SSIS.

Performs database performance monitoring, optimization and tuning.

Performs database and server alerts and error message resolution.

Performs SQL code and index reviews.

  • Performs modification, testing and debugging tasks on vendor supplied utilities and packages to ensure fit with current operating environment under the direction of the Senior SQL Database Administrator.

Works with SQL Server and other database periphery technologies such as Reporting Services, Notification Services, Analysis Services, and Service Broker.

Participates in the disciplined processes and configuration management of all database initiatives.

  • Participates in work with application analysts, vendors and users to insure system integrations and appropriate backup strategies are implemented.
  • Participates in the escalation of issues with appropriate internal resources.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of system documentation.
  • Performs all technical support of assigned applications.
  • Develops system documentation for SQL environments to ensure that client access to product is efficient and meets all regulatory and security requirements.
  • Ability to work with hospital systems.
  • Partners with the Project Management Office and participates in all phases of project implementation.
  • Utilizes and maintains appropriate change control procedures and standards.
  • Performs on-call duties as required.

Experience & Knowledge:

2+ years experienced in database administration, maintenance and development required.

Proficient in the use of current SQL Server technologies required.

Ability to work with Views, Data Dictionaries, Stored procedures, DTS and SSIS packages required.

Ability to troubleshoot technical problems related to the implementation and processing of database software required.

1+ years experience in IT desired.

Proficient with Microsoft .NET programming languages as they relate to Microsoft SQL including C# and VB.NET preferred.

Familiar with emerging SQL technologies preferred.

Experienced in database disaster recovery approaches and technologies preferred.

Knowledge of MS Office and MS Visio is required.

Ability to research and analyze information.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical skills with an ability to organize and communicate thoughts clearly.

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:

Knowledge of MS Project, RedGate SQL Toolbelt, TSM, PowerShell Scripting language and database monitoring tools are a plus.

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Business Management preferred.

Credentials, Licensure or Certification (ie RN, RRT):

Microsoft Certified DBA desired

MCITP Database Administrator desired
