Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a project leader or manager.
Systems Administrator capabilities with 8 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others, may report directly to a project lead or manager, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
ODOT Specific Requirements
An upgrade from Exchange 2003 to 2010 is in progress. The new infrastructure is in place and mailbox migrations have begun on a limited basis. Approximately 5000 mailboxes need to be migrated.
The Systems Administrator III with experience in Exchange 2010 upgrades will provide technical assistance in the following areas:
Implementing best practices
Mailbox moves
Public Folders (eg replication issues)
Addressing compatibility issues during transition: clients on different versions of Outlook and different versions of Exchange and different operating systems (XP and Windows 7).
Active-sync testing
Performance tuning
Creating documentation
E-Mail archiving implementation (with 3rd party solution)
