This is a 6 month contract position with my client who is ranked in the Top 100 Best Places to Work in IT in the US and is located in downtown Atlanta.

Position: Project Manager

Location: Atlanta, GA (downtown)

Rate: $50 - 55/hr

Position Type: Contract

Duration: 6 months

JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Manager is responsible for simultaneously directing the efforts of multiple cross-functional project teams to achieve clearly defined results within the triple constraints of time, budget and specifications for medium and high-complexity projects. The position is responsible for assembling the project team, developing the project work plan, and managing the expectations, deliverables and results of all internal and external project resources for the roles and activities defined in the plan. The project manager is responsible for tracking project milestones and making necessary adjustments to the project plan or resources to maintain customer commitments. The Project Manager communicates project status and risks to all project stakeholders and manages the change process for each assigned project. The Project manager also provides specific performance feedback to the respective resource managers with resources assigned to the project.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)

  • BS or BBA in Information Technology related field preferred or have considerable work experience in the application of information technologies
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years experience managing IT projects in While a Matrix resource environment
  • Experience influencing and managing project teams without formal reporting relationships
  • Experience managing SDLC projects using an iterative methodology preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PMI based project management competency areas and methodologies and experience applying these methods to manage successful projects
  • Demonstrated competency in key areas of management and leadership expertise including communication, relationship building, staff direction and motivation, financial management and control, and quality and risk management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and experience leveraging these skills to interact with all levels of management
  • Experience managing multiple medium and high complexity projects simultaneously, working with diverse project sponsors across multiple business units
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Must have a high-level understanding of IT infrastructure and application architectures
  • High-level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Specify major duties performed by the job and percentage (%) of time spent on duties.

  • Lead and manage a project team to determine project scope, devise and maintain a workable plan, and to develop and deploy the solution in accordance with the needs of the project
  • Serve as project communication clearing house for all formal project status reporting
  • Develop and maintain all project manager deliverables throughout the project life cycle
  • Identify project risk, develop a project risk management plan and actively manage risk throughout the project life cycle.
  • Manage interaction between the customer, vendors, and the internal IT project team to ensure that appropriate relationships exist to produce positive project outcomes
  • Manage the project change control process, status reporting, project estimating and monthly cost accounting
