The commodities business is moving to delivery phase of its multi-year transformation programme. Key 2012 deliverables are in following areas

The changes happening will be on both the business and technology side:

  • Technical changes: Trade Life Cycle, Base Metals Logistics, Risk and PnL, Precious Inventory & Clearing, Market Data, Sub-ledger, Exchange & downstream connectivity
  • Business changes: Process reengineering, Growth in subject matter expertise across functions, organization design and readiness

There are three key stages to the programme:

  • Initial stage - Drive Operations Model
  • Middle stages - Review & Assurance
  • Later stages - Support implementation.
  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Designing future state operating model across process (and expected technology support), organisation, and people review business requirements as documented by programme analysts based on the ops model ensure design meets the requirements
    • Support delivery & migration readiness activities
    • Providing clarifications & review for questions from development & technical testing, typically via business or technical analysts
    • Provide input to testing team in developing detailed user test plans & scripts work with project/test managers in the programme to determine specialist RTB resource & time needed for testing and migration work with RTB management on availability & readiness of specialist RTB resources to support testing and migration
    • Support user testing plan - including hands on testing and also leading resources from the RTB team as appropriate support execution of migration plan -including trade & reference data changes, procedure & role changes, training, parallel run, cut-over activities, etc.
    • Influence and prepare users in the function, for new technology, process & organization
    • Create and manage forums for users to be informed and raise ideas or challenges in a constructive fashion
    • Proactive communication with the user community and programme teams globally - in Commodities as well as with cross-product support functions

    Experience Required:

    • Strong knowledge of physical & financial commodities globally in the relevant function. This should cover listed & OTC, specifically Base Metals and gained in doing the job hands-on in the relevant function (viz. Front Office/Middle Office/Logistics/Back Office/Finance/Credit Risk/Market Risk)
    • Basic knowledge of technology project life cycle through exposure to project work, e .g. working in analysis, SME or testing capacity
    • Some familiarity with process change concepts & practice, eg reengineering, lean/six sigma, outsourcing/offshoring, etc.
    • Demonstrated record of thought leadership & influencing the change
    • Experience of working in Matrix or dual reporting line capability
    • A working knowledge of any of the following applications would be beneficial: Brady, OpenLink, LME apps (Sword, Smart, Select, DPRS), Clearvision, Rolfe & Nolan
    • Some familiarity with organization & people development or team management, eg creating role profiles, capability benchmarking & development plans, organizational changes, etc.
    • Exposure to long-term, multi-phase projects
