Cobol Developer - Chattanooga, TN
Position Overview:
Currently, our client has an opening for a Cobol Developer. The Cobol Developer will make required modifications to Mainframe Cobol programs in order to prepare for both ICD-10 and an upcoming claims processing system upgrade.
Responsibilities:
- Translate business needs from product books, business specs, and oral direction.
- Design complex system enhancements and/or support processes that meet customer requirements while effectively interacting with existing systems/support processes.
- Construct, modify, unit test and install programs, often complex in nature.
- Work with vendor to research and troubleshoot problems as they are identified.
- Provide detailed and comprehensive technical documentation to support audit and SOX requirements for system changes.
Requirements:
- 10 years Cobol Experience required.
- JCL and DB2 are required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to gather business requirements and provide required technical documentation.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with team members and internal business partners to ensure customer needs and expectations are met in a timely and cost efficient manner.
- Must be able to work with outside software vendor to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Must be able to learn and work independently with a minimum amount of direction and training to resolve problems and recommend and implement solutions.
