Solution Architect - Internet Banking

The overall objective is to work within the Business Analysis and Solution design team obtain the appropriate agreements to design and implementation of:
The technical design covering all aspects (security, network, data, user interface etc) of the solution
The component sourcing approach (supplier, number of units, etc) for all hardware, software and service components
Solution costs, including alternatives and trade-offs between costs, requirements and risks
Implementation plan

Enterprise Solution design within an Internet/E-commerce environment, covering technical change within a retail banking organisation.
Ideally the candidate will have experience of a large scale integration and co-ordination exercise across an enterprise

Key Accountabilities:
Is accountable for the production, to time and quality standards, of the solution and design artefacts ie platform designs, application component designs etc.
Is responsible for obtaining all internal and external sign-offs and approvals for each artefact.
Is responsible for meeting the Quality Gates set by the wider EnterPrise Architecture Design, Digital IT Build, Digital Test, the Infrastructure and the Implementation work streams and obtaining the acceptance from those work streams.
Builds, leads, motivates and develops teams of internal and external resources sourced from the business (both heritage organisations), IT, offshore suppliers, the contract market and consultancies. Appraises the teams so that their individual and collective performance is of a required standard and meets the needs of the Programme.
Designs and integrates specialist solutions for each Galaxy Release, factoring in other aspects of the technical solution and the effect of the specialist decisions on other parts of the organisation on each occasion.
Translates and communicates complex technical/specialist issues/proposals and secures stakeholder buy-in for the proposal/solutions, and acts as an internal consultant for own area of specialisation by leveraging own knowledge across multiple projects and functions
Conducts supplier selection and undertakes selection of tools and resources to deliver the service and the artefacts
Challenges existing approaches/solutions to drive continuous improvement and gains management/client commitment to change
Responsible for planning, objective setting, and development of new procedures within area of responsibility, through interpretative judgement of Galaxy, the business and Group IT policies and goals
Accountable for performance against financial parameters, and monitors and reports on budgetary aspects within own area. Has input to budget setting
Identifies, clarifies and assesses complex, abstractly defined business problems/issues and provides alternative scenarios with minimal referral to line manager
Manages and builds key stakeholder relationships across sphere of influence to improve the overall service provided by Galaxy, the business and Group IT
Ensures compliance with the Bank's IT and business architectures, books of instructions, procedures and guidelines, quality standards and all regulatory and statutory requirements, and where appropriate takes action to ensure the Bank's business is protected at all times
Shares own knowledge and technical expertise across organisational boundaries by consulting, advising and coaching others, and ensures others to share their knowledge, in order to build skills across the Galaxy programme, the Business and Group IT.
