Would you like to work for one of the most popular interactive media and entertainment brands on the planet? This company has a terrific contract opening for a System Engineer capable of supporting development teams for high-visibility online games platforms!

OVERVIEW:

  • Work with operations to bring up hardware (physical and virtual)
  • Work with operations to configure application stack (physical and virtual)
  • Work with in-house development teams as necessary to test and deploy new projects to hardware
  • Work with in-house development, operations, and DBA's to determine data distribution (sharding)
  • Work with operations to configure load balancers
  • Work with technology teams to troubleshoot issues and bring them to resolution
  • Troubleshoot application code and performance of code (PHP, Ruby and Java)
  • Manage CDN resources
  • Manage SVN and GIT repositories
  • Traditional build and release duties
  • Day to day system administration, tuning, scaling operations
  • Improve operations processes
  • Incident management- own outages from reporting to resolution, ensure that customers are kept informed of the progress

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 year of experience with MySQL, Membase
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Linux systems administrator
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Perl, Ruby, PHP, and/or Java
  • In-depth knowledge of the platform technology including but not limited to the operating system, information systems, and software architecture that development teams use
  • Strong Linux background, Ubuntu or other Debian distribution
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities

This contract position is expected to be 6 months in duration.
