The Job
Our client's Technology Solutions Group, is responsible for planning, designing, building, operating and supporting the Department's technology infrastructure and shared services. They are looking for a dedicated professional to assist the Branch in completing a number of technology initiatives including Sharepoint 2010, the System centre suite of products, ISA (Threat Management Gateway), SQL 2008 R2 and 3rd level product support.
The primary role of an infrastructure engineer is to maintain, configure and support the Departments multiple IT environments. Specifically, the duties of an infrastructure engineer will be to provide support for the Microsoft Suite of infrastructure products, to provide server production support, to assist development teams in solution design, and to provide 3rd level support for infrastructure related issues.
As part of Security, Midrange and Desktop Services, an infrastructure engineer will be part of a team which is responsible for the availability and operational effectiveness of the mid-range environment.
The infrastructure engineer would possess the following competencies -
The capability to provide third level support for the Departments Microsoft based IT infrastructure.
The design, configuration and support of the Departments multiple Sharepoint Internal and External Farms
A thorough knowledge of ISA and Threat Management Gateway
Conversant with virtualisation technologies specifically Hyper V.
The ability to produce architecture diagrams, installation guides, troubleshooting documentation and best practice guidelines.
Able to assist with the planning, monitoring and management of the day to day operations of Security, Midrange and Desktop services
Assist with training and development of staff in relation to infrastructure support protocols, knowledge and skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Selection Criteria
1) Demonstrated technical experience in the management, isolation, diagnosis and restoration of services in a medium to large Microsoft Windows/Active Directory environment in the following Microsoft products:
a) Sharepoint
b) Windows 2008 Server
c) Microsoft ISA/Threat Management Gateway
d) Microsoft Hyper V
e) Active Directory
2) Well developed communication skills, including:
a) Read, comprehend and write technical material effectively;
b) Negotiation and liaison skills;
c) Ability to communicate with staff from technical and non-technical backgrounds, and
d) Presentation skills.
3) Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as

d) To tight timeframes.
