Description
We have an exciting 24 month Contract opportunity available for a Snr UNIX Manager. You will be looking to join our global client providing leadership to managers and supervisors whose responsibilities include management of engineering personnel administrating the Engineering production of UNIX Systems.
Essential Functions
* Communicates strategic vision to the team that can be translated into individual team tasks.
* Leads in developing business process that creates solutions for designing and deploying infrastructure that enhances our business process and delivers value to the company.
* Apply knowledge and experience of industry best practices within IT systems administration.
* Coaches subordinates on successfully managing their direct reports, in the areas of organization, goal establishment, and conflict resolution.
* Help management reconcile Engineering strategies to Business strategies.
* Develop operational plans to align with business objectives within own area and function.
* Develop relationships with key internal/external clients to identify emerging needs
.* Contributes to budget development and implement subject to approval
* Anticipates and proactively addresses potential problems within the workgroup or across divisions.
Minimum Requirements
* Resolves complex problems that have implications beyond own area.
*Works with cross-functional teams to support a collaborative working relationship.
*Applies expertise and experience to improve process and provide guidance to employees in that area.
* Make decisions on complex issues, where previous experience outside of own area may be relevant.
* Knowledge with SAN, NAS based environments. EMC and/or HP disk arrays, Switches and hubs.
* Knowledge of clustering software and techniques, packages and package failover
* Ten plus years experience in a medium to large HPUX and/or Sun Solaris UNIX environment.
* Strong leadership skills, with an ability to lead and motivate a staff in a growing, flexible environment, utilizing diversity in approach and methodologies.
* Minimum of 5 years previous work experience that includes leadership/management.
* Understanding of the wireless industry and the operational support areas within a Wireless Enterprise are a plus.
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or equivalent
