Catia V5 Design Engineer
Leading Aerospace manufacturer is looking for a Catia V5 Design Engineer to design detailed models of a variety of suite components in order to meet the aerospace programme requirements.
A design engineer, reporting to either a Senior Design Engineer or Lead Engineer is responsible for the delivery of engineering designs and drawings, which meet the requirements defined by their task leader, whilst at the same time ensuring that the completed work package incorporates best practice in all areas.
Responsible for the design and detail modelling of a variety of suite components.
Cost and weight targets must be managed and met
Design engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers.
Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process
The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
Ensure the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole
Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines as laid out in Quality documentation
To check engineering packages
Generate and/or revise specifications
From time to time, Design engineers must be prepared to undertake other tasks as requested by their immediate supervisors.
Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)
Any other reasonable duties
Technical Skills/Competencies
Sufficient engineering capability and experience to create effective engineered solutions
Competent user of the incumbent CAD and data management systems
A working knowledge of the various methods of manufacture to be employed such as:
Machining
Casting
Vacuum forming
Injection moulding
Composite materials
Trim and finish
An understanding of the selection of appropriate hardware (fasteners etc)
