Our client is a signature Pacific Northwest corporation seeking a Systems/Ops Admin for an excellent contract opportunity.
This job contributes to the client's success by performing intermediate system administration tasks:
- Monitors all operating systems and hardware across platforms and throughout the corporate environment (Windows, UNIX, AS400, Network, Job Scheduler and Data Base Management Systems)
- Analyzes and responds to problems, referring more complex issues to second-level support groups as appropriate
- Follows established guidelines for maintaining data security and enforcing data access and security policies
- Functions in a continuously-operating production environment without direct supervision
- Models and acts in accordance with company guiding principles
OVERVIEW:
- Monitors all AS400 system backups
- Ensures subsequent offsite storage requirements and procedures are adhered to
- Follows established procedures in performing work orders to grant systems access across multiple platforms
- Maintains operations documentation and procedures
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
- Monitors all operating systems, network, job scheduler and database management systems as well as data center environmental performance and access security
- Works independently to identify system problems, takes corrective action when possible, and refers more complex problems and issues to second-level support groups using established escalation procedures
- Documents problems in the problem management (Remedy) system
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Computer Operations or related information technology experience
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting system problems in a complex, heterogeneous systems environment
- Diagnostic, monitoring, job scheduling, and problem and change management tools (Remedy, HP Open View, Control-M, etc.)
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service
- Ability to work any shift
- Knowledge of a variety of operating systems (UNIX, Windows, AS400-OS/400, LAN/WAN), job scheduling tool (Control/M), problem management tool (Remedy), and diagnostic and monitoring tools (HP Open View).
- Good problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and analysis skills
This contract position is expected to be 4 months in duration.
