The Industrial Processing Systems - Business Unit (IPS BU) is focused on the delivery of a strong business growth opportunity. Utilising its proprietary technology, the Business Unit will develop and supply material processing solutions into a range of high value industrial applications.
The successful applicant will be part of the team which will develop this exciting new business opportunity within the company

The position will involve working with the IPS BU engineering & project team, the system engineering role requires an experienced systems engineer with an electrical/high power electronics background. The Systems Engineer will use their skills, knowledge and experience to aid the delivery of a wide range of projects to both the internal and/or external customer, using a systems engineering approach, ensuring the customer system Requirements are captured within the design without compromise to the performance of the products.

Main Accountabilities
* Understand and clarify the key features of the complete system and then, by functional analysis, divide it into subsystems complete with proper interfaces. Work with engineering team to develop requirements into various system and engineering specifications.
* Breakdown the subsystem and components in order to identify the appropriate personnel to make responsible for the realisation of the system parts.
* Translate the system into "black boxes" to enable the whole team to understand the role that they are playing.
* Support the relevant project manager(s) in identifying, managing and mitigating project risks.
* Identify, track and resolve relevant project issues.
* Ensure that the solution meets customers' requirements.* Proactively manage the scope to ensure that only what was agreed to be delivered, unless changes are approved.

Essential Experience and Technical Skills
* Demonstratable experience of using customer facing meetings to capture system requirements.
* The ability to build ongoing relationships both with customers and internal stakeholders to aid the capture, analysis and negotiation of system requirements.
* Demonstrable experience of the application of the systems engineering approach to complex activities is essential.
* A technical understanding of electrical/electronic devices, microwaves/RF systems and associated software systems is required.
* Functional analysis experience is required for this role.
* Requirements document generation is required.
* Design documentation and ICD generation is required.
* A proven ability to "sell" new processes on the basis of the benefits that will accrue from the systems engineering approach is essential.
* Proactive and very high quality verbal and written communication skills, including active listening skills are required in this role.
* Practical experience of all stages of the full systems development life cycle is required.
* The ability to develop validation procedures and perform validation and verification activities is required.
* The candidate should be a self starter and a team player.

Specific Design & Development Competencies are required in this role, including the proven ability to:

* Identify the requirements of clients for engineering products or processes
* Determine engineering requirements for products or processes
* Identify solutions to meet technical requirements

Skills

* Extensive experience of the IBM DOORS requirements management tool is essential.
* Extensive experience of MS Visio
* MS Office Software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
