Description
A User Research Engineer does research with users on games and gamers, dealing with the central question of "What is fun?" and "How can we make games more fun?"
OVERVIEW:
- Works in collaboration with the User Research Lead
- Conducts usability and playtest studies
- Analyzes data
- Communicates results to product teams
- Oversees projects
- Develops and manages relationships with product teams
- Works with product teams to determine needs and set research goals
- Designs and executes studies to meet said goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
- General knowledge of, and working experience with, human observational research, experimental design, and questionnaire research
- Must have participated in major research projects that involved running tests and analysing data
- Experience working in an applied research or product development environment
- Experience presenting results to critical audiences
- General knowledge of popular computer and video games and game culture are required
- Must be a Gamer on PC and/or interactive console
- Must be able to work quickly and independently
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with, and persuade, varied audiences and argue for results (both orally and in writing)
- BA/BS in Psychology (cognitive, experimental, or social) required
- MA/MS or Ph.D. preferred
- HCI/HFE, or related field also considered
This contract is expected to be 1 year in duration.
