The position has the responsibility to maintain and enhance a critical laboratory information system that is used to provide data to a wide range of decision makers in Northern California. Client is looking for a motivated individual with laboratory information system experience.
Essential Functions:
Interact with groups to understand requirements for data transfer between medical information systems
Analyze current work flows and recommend adjustments to same in order to take full advantage of system capabilities
Plan and implement major releases and minor enhancements
Analyze and interfaces and plan/implement approved changes
Work closely with business partners to understand their changing needs and make recommendations when appropriate
Troubleshoot problems and resolve issues
Recommend appropriate training for staff
Work with regional business account management staff and business customers to ensure clarity of system and change requirements and to provide status of projects and maintenance work requests on a timely basis.
Basic Qualifications:
Understanding of HL7 message structure
Experience with Cerner Open Engine and Cerner Scripting for interfaces
Bachelor's degree in relevant field or 4 additional years of related experience
4 or more years of technical experience in a fast-paced IT dept
3 years experience with clinical medical information systems
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products and networking, particularly with database, spreadsheet, and word processing software
Proven ability to work in a highly matrixed environment
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Proven ability to communicate well, both orally and in written form with senior management, business partners and staff
Demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service
Ability to effectively multitask
Demonstrated ability to estimate man-power requirements for required tasks
Ability to independently or in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience installing and maintaining a laboratory information system
Proven ability to write and maintain clear and concise system documentation
Prior experience with highly regulated change management systems
Proven fiscal responsibility
Ability to produce quality products with minimal supervision
Experience with Cerner Pathnet Millennium and/or Classic Pathnet systems
Working knowledge of interfaces between LIS/Ancillary System and HIS

Information on the project: Installation of Cerner Millennium Pathnet application for the NCAL region. This position will focus on the interfaces to other applications (FSI)
Educational requirements, is a degree required? BA or BS preferred
