CNC Machinist/Programmer
Contract; 3 months
Location; Cumbria
Our client is currently recruiting for a CNC Machinist or programmer to join its busy production/manufacturing department. Working as part of a team with the possibility of various shifts and weekends, You will be responsible for running a CNC Machining Centre in a safe and effective manner. The ideal machine operator, will be fully conversant when reading engineering drawings and should be able to take the information from the drawings and programme this information into the machine.
Typical duties would include:
- To machine items requested by Production/Planners using machines best suited to the task in accordance with the skills of the relevant Machinist.
- Interpret standards and isometric drawings to enable accurate replication to comply with drawing tolerances/parameters and quality requirements.
- To programme various jobs using heidenhain control system.
- Be able to use Cycle Defines and Labels within your programmes when programming jobs.
- Using basic AutoCAD to draw out jobs to find positions/movements of tools when programming.
- Programming of CNC machine tool with data taken from technical drawings.
- Planning the most effective order of machine operations for each job.
- Choosing the right tools for each stage of the job and setting these with the tool setter.
- Setting the cutting speeds and tolerance levels.
- Ensure the work meets quality and technical standards.
- Routine maintenance checks.
