Job Summary

The Video Network Engineer I is responsible for proactively monitoring customer video networks, providing fault isolation, remote troubleshooting and problem resolution of both H.323 and H.320 video networks. Multiple 2nd and 3rd shift openings

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide Tier 2 customer support for H.323 and H.320 video networks

  • Recognize and proactively troubleshoot and diagnose problems on H.323 and H.320 Video Networks

  • Interact with Carriers and Customers to report events and/or resolution of events and document the event

  • Participate in tracking and prioritization of ticket-handling, including inter-shift turnover

  • Capable of training users in NOC applications and system fundamentals

  • Ability to read, write and follow basic documentation

Required Degrees/Majors/Accreditations/Skills:

  • Familiarity with basic Cisco Router and Switch commands and troubleshooting procedures

  • Knowledge of IBM xSeries Hardware

  • Fundamental understanding of LAN and WAN systems

  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills

  • Capable of explaining simple procedures in writing or verbally

  • Good phone customer service skills

  • Previous proven experience in customer support, network operations, system administration

  • Ability to accept responsibility and meet deadlines

  • Motivated to advance

  • Understanding of prioritizing escalation events is essential

  • Ability to follow instructions - both written and verbal

  • Applicant should have 2 years college or equivalent work experience. Degree area/certificate in computer science, computer engineering or related field

Skills Needed for this Position:

  • LAN/WAN experience

  • Microsoft Server 2003 and/or 2008

  • Preferred Certifications: CCNA and/or MCP

  • Video Vendor specific training or certifications
