Job Description
Research, recommend and implement changes to the current UNIX/Linux environments. Ensure the stability and performance of all UNIX/Linux Servers and their related key applications. Perform pro-active capacity planning, including short term and long-term trend analysis. Perform server management, including patch rollouts. Tune systems for optimal performance. Recommend policies, procedures and purchases related to systems administration, security. Administer production and corporate systems. Maintaining the inventory system pertaining to hardware and equipment. Follow and create all disaster recovery procedures based on agreed upon SLA's and. Support in systems troubleshooting and problem resolution. Ensure stable implementation and support of 50+ enterprise Servers. Serve as part of the IT Systems Team in developing and implementing next generation systems architectures around Unix/Linux products. Support and maintain configuration management for all systems. Support the backup and recovery strategy for the enterprise for Unix/Linux products in conjunction with the Backup Team. Write comprehensive detailed documents for building, troubleshooting, installing, recovering, supporting all Unix/Linux Servers and applications
Qualifications
4+ years in a medium to large sized distributed systems environment. Four-year degree in related discipline or 5+ years experience. Continued training and study in Technology. Technical training (certification) on Unix/Linux platform design and support. Working knowledge of Scripting languages and programming methodologies. Formal knowledge and practice of a Quality Process and Project Management philosophies and principles
