CAD Mechanical Design Engineer (Solidworks) - London - £200 per day

My client, a leading communications company based in Harrow. They are looking for an experienced CAD Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis for an initial 3 month period. You will act as the Mechanical Design Engineer on assigned projects. Security Clearance is required for this role.

Experience, Skills and Attribute
* SolidWorks
* Pro-E (desirable)
* Proven ability to create and promote design concepts, from initial requirements definition, through to production
* Aptitude for industrial design and product styling.
* Knowledge of environmental sealing, and designing for harsh environmental conditions (experience of design for military use is desirable).
* Knowledge and experience of current manufacturing methods, particularly mouldings, with a proven ability to select materials and finishes.
* Confident, pro-active, self-motivated approach, with excellent communication and reporting skills.

You will be: -
* Responsible for all aspects of product design from concept design to manufacture
* Conceptualise, develop and design products in accordance with customer requirement
* Required to work proactively as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that engineering tasks are delivered within budget, to the right quality & on-time.
* Work cooperatively with internal customers to define realistic requirement specifications as well as providing technical support.
* To provide experience and expertise to assess feasibility of designs at an early stage, to reduce risk and ensure profitable, reliable & designed for manufacture products are produced.
* Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design.
* Ensure integrity of design and that the requirement specifications are met.
* Prepare technical and financial proposals for new work.
* Provide support during sales enquiry, design, development, prototype and pre-production manufacture stages.
* Support development and qualification tests and trials of equipment.
* Evaluate risks using techniques such as FMEA, design reviews, etc. and mitigate them.
* Design and develop mechanical products using 3D and 2D Drafting.
* Prepare documentation including: BOM, Drawings, Change Notes, technical reports, test specifications for internal and external circulation.
* Ensure work, assembly and process instructions and documentation accurately reflects the design intent.
