Senior Project Engineer
My Client is a diversified power management company with 2010 sales of $13.7 billion. My client has approximately 73,000 employees and sells products to customers in more than 150 countries. My client a leading Aerospace organisation in Hampshire is recognized as an industry leader in aerospace fuel systems and a premier supplier of fully integrated fuel systems for fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The site offers customers the premier fuel system test facility in Europe, allowing either complete aircraft fuel systems or components to be tested over a wide range of altitudes and temperatures with differing fuel types.
Primary Function;
We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Project Engineer to act as project technical lead on low pressure fuel pump components. This challenging role will involve coordinating internal and external resources and providing technical leadership to more junior engineers such that projects are delivered to specification, on time and to budget. You will be responsible for the preparation of design, qualification and development test plans and the identification of rig and instrumentation requirements. You will also act as the technical point of contact for the customer and will develop long-term customer relations.
The successful candidate will possess either a degree or masters in a relevant engineering subject, in addition to proven leadership qualities and excellent communication and presentation skills. In this fast paced environment it is essential that the successful candidate also has excellent organisation abilities and the ability to work on their own initiative. Previous experience working in an aerospace engineering environment would be advantageous, although applicants from other high technology engineering backgrounds will be considered.
Essential Functions;
* Act as technical lead for fuel pump projects internally and externally as directed by the Engineering or Project Manager.
* Co-ordinate internal and external resources and provide technical leadership to engineers such that projects are delivered to specification, on time and to budget.
* Ensure that customer requirements are properly understood and that the design implementation meets these requirements.
* Act as the technical point of contact for the customer and to maintain or improve customer relations.
* Prepare and review technical documentation in accordance with company procedures.
* Define and direct development and qualification test programmes.
* Authorise estimates on workpackages and the identification of risks with suitable mitigation.
* Lead in the preparation of technical proposals.
*To have the technical understanding and commercial intuition to produce competitive tendering documents.
* Lead failure investigations associated with pump product.
