Mechanical Stress Engineer - FEA/Fatigue/ASME - SC Cleared
We currently have a requirement for an SC Cleared Mechanical Stress Engineer to work in the area of Derbyshire for a 6 month contract. Our client requires experienced Mechanical Engineers with stress analysis skills to join our team. We have challenging projects requiring the detailed analysis, assessment and reporting of components and structures under steady state, transient and dynamic loads.
Essential Criteria
Experience in the following technical disciplines;
- Finite Element Analysis (preferably Abaqus)
- Fatigue and fracture assessment (preferably using Abaqus and R6 code)
- Stress analysis by hand calculation
- Assessments using ASME III Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes
- Formulating Safety Justifications
Furthermore, the successful candidate will demonstrate;
- A sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application to varied projects and domains
- A desire to be challenged
Desirable Criteria
Experience in the following industry domains;
- Steam-raising power plant and components (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, pipework etc)
- Nuclear industry safety classification/justification knowledge
- Experience of Pipework Analysis to ASME & seismic assessments
Responsibilities
As a successful applicant, you would be expected to;
- Produce calculations and analyses to demonstrate acceptable performance or identify design issues
- Author and update technical documents to present technical findings
- Support bidding activities through your time estimates
- Manage your delivery against Time, Cost and Quality requirements
- Support our QA process through review or checking colleagues' work
- Presentation of your findings to clients
- Work within project teams (though some independent work, including placements at clients' sites, may be required)
