Job Title: Network Engineer
Location: Bolingbrook, IL
Position: long term contract
Position Description:
This network professional is a talented individual producer who applies in-depth knowledge of technical concepts, practices and procedures. The incumbent may act as a member of user-support team and will often work under demanding deadlines, operating independently to resolve end-user problems. The individual must be able to work within a globally diverse team environment.
The Network Engineer will report directly to the Global Network Manager.
Duties:
-Provide direct support for our Bolingbrook IT office and the Plainfield Data Center to include core switching and cable management
-Configuration &troubleshooting of Cisco routing and switching to ensure the optimal Global network functionality
-Assimilate any other technologies utilized to deliver network services to our customers
-Create and maintain network documentation which includes but is not limited to: Visio diagrams, spreadsheets, configuration templates, configuration archives, device inventory, and circuit information
-Assists users to identify and solve complex communication problems
-Monitor network performance and circuit status and independently resolve any issues
-Participate in team on-call rotation
-Operate in a dynamic multitasking environment, where shifting priorities may alter work plans, and includes the ability to stay late or work weekends/holidays to resolve issues and perform maintenance
-5% Domestic and International travel.
-Other duties and tasks as assigned
Required Skills:
-Have a minimum of 3 years of hands on network experience
-Understand network protocols (ICMP/TCP/UDP/etc..)
-Have understanding of layer 2 and 3 protocols (STP/RSTP/HSRP/EIGRP)
-Have understanding of IKE, ISAKMP, IPSEC, GRE over IPSEC, and LAN to LAN VPN tunnels
-Have telecomm circuit troubleshooting and carrier escalation experience.
-Have understanding of packet & protocol analyzers, network performance tools, and Netflow analysis
-Have analytical abilities and be able to think "outside the box"
-Understand Cisco ACS/TACACS
-Be able to manage time and meet target dates
-Be professional individual and possess strong written and verbal communication skills
-Be client-focused with excellent customer service skills
-Be able to multitask and work independently or as part of a global team
Licenses, Certifications, Credentials, and Other Requirements:
-Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
-Must have active CCNA, desired CCNP
-Desired Load Balancer, Citrix WANScaler, Riverbed Steelhead, Cisco ASA Firewall experience
-Desired Knowledge of 802.1x and network access control
-Desired Knowledge of Cisco WLC & WCS, 802.11a/b/g/n
-Desired Knowledge of SolarWinds NPM, NCM, and IPAM
