The Senior IT Staff Consultant will be responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies, and addressing complex issues and interactions that have strategic impact. S/He will facilitate the design of a piece of IT technology among senior business and IT management, and then program manage the implementation of the design.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide strategic consultancy support to IT and Business partners in defining or designing business processes and researching and identifying enabling technologies based on business requirements.
  • Direct projects and be responsible for the overall implementation and execution of project and performance criteria; maintain full knowledge of all phases of business-specific technology implementations.
  • Actively seek ways to apply technology to business processes, researching and providing information on technical trends and competitors' practices relevant to the assigned technical or business area.
  • Assess near-term needs, utilizing structured interview processes to establish business priorities; consult with other subject matter experts and develop alternative technical solutions; advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on other business processes and system priorities.
  • Facilitate the brokering of services within the IT community on behalf of IT and Business partners; coordinate multisystem solutions to clarify interdependence so that systems appear seamless to customers.
  • Ally with other IT functional areas to remain apprised of project and available technology status and inform customer management of progress; conversely, keep IT's technology and management team aware of user issues and potential potholes or resolve conflicts.
  • Facilitate development of cross-line of business and multiple-technical discipline solutions that combine knowledge of particular business processes and issues, specific technologic options, and process facilitation techniques.
  • Develop, motivate and direct staff (generally indirect reports, but may include limited direct reports) to create a team environment and enable staff to fulfil the division's operating and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain regular contact with management and personnel of assigned department/unit and IT personnel on specific projects.
  • Partner with the functional groups within the IT organization to communicate and clarify business needs, identifying creative applications of technology to meet those needs; contribute to the development of long-range system plans, and ensure products and services are aligned with business needs.
  • Conduct business process and technology analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost versus benefit measurements; and communicate trends and requirements to and from customers and IT, with particular emphasis on their technical areas of expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science, management information systems, related technical curricula or equivalent work experience
  • JCAPS, J2EE, Web Services, and JMS REQUIRED
  • PLUS skills: UNIX, Shell Scripting, Agile experience, Spring and/or Tomcat
  • At least 10 years of experience: IT experiences in business systems analysis in a large-scale environment across multiple hardware and software platforms; Detailed demonstrated subject matter expertise; includes working closely within IT in the development and implementation of large-scale systems; Business process re-engineering or process improvements is desirable, involving broad-based information systems and utilizing tools, enabling technologies and techniques to effect business change
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management and execution of large development projects (or co-management with IT or business unit/corporate department)
  • Significant experience and knowledge in new computing architectures and implementation of networked and Client Server computing structure emphasizing the PC; experience with Intranet development and implementation
  • 2+ years of management experience including demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership, with strong abilities in relationship management; Experience in managing resources to meet goals across multiple projects; Experience in leading multidiscipline, high performance work teams/groups; Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems; Demonstrated high competency in project management
  • Knowledge of industry business practices and direction
  • Recognized as an industry expert in a specific technical discipline; this includes one or more external certification, if available, of the incumbent's mastery of the subject technologies and their application
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to the business
  • Strong project management skills; experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors; ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all management levels
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; Demonstrated track record in new concept development for a variety of projects and complex technical plans
  • Ability to solve problems involving remote and elusive systems often spanning multiple environments in a business area and spanning diverse technologies
  • Accountable for all actions/responsibilities described in the company's policies and procedures as they relate to this position

Occasional travel may be required.
