Our client is a hugely popular computer components brand seeking a Tech for their LAN Access Division (LAD). This team develops network software and hardware that forms part of the client's Gigabit and 10 GbE line of networking connections. This project is testing these networking products in Virtualization operating systems, mostly VMware vSphere (ESX).

OVERVIEW: Testing will be performed in LAD's Lab and will mostly focus on software (networking drivers) validation through a combination of manual procedures and automated scripts. The main tasks consist of executing tests according to plan and recording all the results. The responsibilities also include development of new tests, ad-hoc validation and defects characterization and verification. For procedures that are manual, new testing scripts will be developed and maintained along with existing automation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Seasoned Linux administration skills, versatile in console commands and Scripting (PERL, BASH, etc.)
  • Solid TCP/IP and Layer 2 networking knowledge and understanding of VLAN
  • Hands-on expertise in managing enterprise networks and configuring equipment (Switches, Routers)
  • Experience with VMware vSphere (ESX4.x and/or ESXi5.0) installation, configuration, and virtual infrastructure administration
  • Enthusiasm and flexibility, with a positive attitude and very inquisitive mindset
  • Familiarity with validation processes and methodologies
  • Effective written communication skills at a near-collegiate level
  • Virtualization enthusiast

Additional Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Experience/knowledge with open source virtualization (XEN, KVM) and/or Hyper-V
  • Experience with Windows PowerShell and/or VMware PowerCLI
  • Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Knowledge of network storage technologies (iSCSI, FCoE)
