Description
This is a role in the Database Administration team and will provide specialist IMS/DB2 database administration duties.Playing a key role in supporting development teams, you will ensure that technical designs provide for Recovery, Security, Integrity and Performance and that accurate work estimates are provided.Responsibilities include:
- Plan for and support 24x7 availability (including Disaster Recovery) to maintain service to the business
- Monitor new technologies and tools to keep pace with technology and ensure delivery future business needs
- Assist within the team on mentoring and specific product training (as require)
- Understand and provide input to database standards and procedures for DBA and Systems Solutions teams
- Liaison with customers
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in work practices
Experience will include:
- Minimum of 8 years IT experience with at least 5 years in a Database environment
- You will have in depth and up-to-date knowledge of IMS having worked in that environment as well as preferably having sound DB2 knowledge
- Sound knowledge of the basic database utilities for IMS and DB2
- Sound knowledge of the IBM High performance utility suites is an advantage
- Data Management Systems (IMS FastPath, IMS Full Function, DB2, VSAM, OSAM)
- Programming experience in REXX
