Electrical Engineer; Protection Engineer; Electrical design Engineer; Protection and Control assets; 132 kv
we are looking for a Electrical Design Engineer/Protection Engineer with qualification in Electrical engineering, to contribute to the development of electrical design standards, production of protection settings and design philosophies, supporting of assurance processes, and contribution to the objectives of the Asset Management team .
Skill Set
- Knowledge of the design, operation and management of distribution assets at all voltage levels.
- Excellent understanding of physical asset management best practice and regulatory requirements.
- Ideally qualified to degree or HND level or equivalent in electrical engineering or another engineering subject.
- Articulate and numerate and able to interpret statistical information, understanding trends and able to match these to quantified asset risks
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assisting with the development of non-load related plans for the next distribution price control review in respect of protection, control, automation, and earthing.
- The development of electrical design standards for distribution, primary and grid substations for use throughout Networks.
- The review and checking of electrical designs produced by other members of the team commensurate with their skills and experience.
- Completion of protection studies up to 132kV to determine the most appropriate technical solution for new and reinforced networks as part of the development of schemes prior to approval.
- The production of protection settings for networks from 11kV up to 132kV for all Directorates within Networks in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Supporting and mentoring other members of the team to enhance their technical knowledge and experience.
- Complying with the requirements of the designer as determined by the CDM Regulations.
- Post fault protection analysis for incidents up to 132kV which may include visits to operational substations where compliance with safety rules and procedures is mandatory.
- Ensure the delivery of the departmental HSS Action Plan in support of our Incident and Injury Free culture and our Safe and Responsible Company ambition.
- Qualification in Electrical engineering
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint presentations
