GREAT opportunity for a a bright and motivated Sr. SQL DBA/Architect to work with a global technology company with self-service solutions for ATM machines and software, POS and Retail systems, and airline check-in systems in the Alpharetta area!
POSITION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Design and develop scalable database solutions for very large database (VLDB) environment in support of global business requirements.
Required experience and in depth knowledge of Sql Server Architecture (ie security, Relational Engine, Query Optimizer, etc), Must have experience in providing support for high traffic VLDB scale production systems.
Experience in deploying High Availability (HA) solutions available in Sql Server including experience in providing database administration for Failover Clustering, Replication and DB Mirroring.
Hands on experience in implementing solutions for Performance tuning large scale environments.
In depth knowledge of Sql Server s security hierarchy with experience in implementing high security for instance and database level objects.
Experience in writing scalable, robust Sql code following Microsoft s best practices.
Participate in all changes made to the system as it relates to the Database systems and process.
Maintain, debug and improve database code as required by the business process.
Advise and adhere to Sql Server development best practices.
Formulate short and long term improvement plans for database systems.
Assist with report development from the OLAP system and work to develop the necessary structures in that system to facilitate.
Work closely with other Software Engineering and Business resources to develop appropriate solutions for technical and business challenges.
Lead a team of junior Database Administrators to defined requirements and schedules to produce high quality deliverables in a challenging and dynamic environment.
Provide effective mentoring of contributors such that they have the opportunity to grow in their chosen career paths.
Follow necessary quality assurance methodologies to ensure that the database code meets the expected performance and scalability requirements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field.
A minimum of 6 years experience in database design and development.
Deep understanding of Software Development and Quality Assurance best practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of database development experience utilizing TSQL for creating database objects ie Tables, Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers and Views.
5+ years of experience in database optimization and query optimization techniques including ability to read query execution plans.
5+ years of experience in designing database solutions for Very Large Databases (VLDBs).
5+ years of experience in developing T-SQL based ETL solutions for a large data ware house systems.
Strong knowledge of Security architecture of Sql Server 2005 and 2008.
5+ years of experience in writing efficient and scalable Sql queries and procedures.
5+ years of experience in developing and deploying efficient and scalable Integration Services (SSIS) packages. Experience in writing efficient.NET code either in C# or VB.NET.
Experience in developing and deploying reports in SSRS.
Strong structured problem solving skills and analytical thinking with organizational skills.
Ability to turn requirements into implemented database solutions. Incorporating business logic into database logic with necessary data structures, data validation, exceptional handling and automated reporting.
Follow necessary quality assurance methodologies to ensure that the database code meets the expected performance and scalability requirements.
Full project life cycle experience.
Must be a team player with excellent communication skills
Must demonstrate attention to detail and commitment to quality of work.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with deadlines.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to fast-paced environment. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
MCITP in Database Development (2005 and 2008).
Strong leadership skills, demonstrating the ability to drive results through others.
1-2 years experience with SaaS model database systems.
Understanding and experience with agile development principles.
Experience with modern programming languages and frameworks such as C#, Java, ASP.NET, JAVA, Spring, and Web Services.
Experience working with remote teams.
