we require a STORAGE SYSTEMS ENGINEER's role is to support and analyze the organization's storage infrastructure, while ensuring high levels of data quality and availability. This position is also responsible for participating with capacity planning, performance analysis, and working with data disaster recovery plans. This individual will contribute to and enforce policies and procedures to ensure consistent storage provisioning, availability and uptime in addition to maintaining day to day health of the global SAN.

Essential Functions:

  • Providing a stable and efficient storage platform for SAN Infrastructure
  • Provide assistance and guidance to System Administrators in regards to attaching hosts to the SAN
  • Assist in the development of storage architectures based on capacity planning analysis and other needs assessments
  • Assist in action plans with business units across the enterprise based on established requirements, available disk space, and future growth
  • Assist in the design and implementation of redundant systems and policies for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of storage appliances and stored data assets
  • Configure and/or validate new and existing SAN devices and corresponding software
  • Analyze storage equipment performance, collect information and prepare summary reports
  • Respond to Level 1 & 2 situations and resolve SAN problems, retrieval issues, storage device status and other issues
  • Define and adhere to service level agreements with end-users regarding storage allocations, limitations and availability
  • Stay informed on storage trends and issues, including current and emerging technologies and best practices
  • Advise and counsel management teams on the relative importance of these issues
  • Recommend and implement changes where necessary

Job Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of EMC and Cisco SAN components
  • Solid experience in DMX and Clariion/VNX technologies
  • Strong knowledge and experience with EMC, ECC
  • Solid skills in Unix and Windows OS
  • Good understanding of storage architecture design techniques, theories, principles and practices
  • Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting Servers and software for SAN connectivity
  • Experience working with various data replication strategies and products
  • Hands-on storage management and troubleshooting experience
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 3 year equivalent work experience in an EMC SAN environment
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to change managements systems
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to conduct research into storage issues, standards and products
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Ideal Skills:

  • Certifications in ITIL or Data Management Life Cycle
  • Knowledge/Certification of SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, SCSI, and Fibre Channel technologies in EMC environment
  • EMC CDL experience
