Link Technologies is currently recruiting for a System Administrator (AIX). This is a permanent or long-term contract to hire position working on an exciting new project in Annapolis Junction, MD. Summary:
The AIX administrator applies a broad knowledge of systems administration/analysis concepts, practices and procedures. A successful candidate is competent to work on fairly complex assignments and perform a standard range of AIX system administration activities. The AIX administrator generally works under deadlines and is capable of operating with only general supervision. Possess familiarity with varied concepts, standard best business practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity is encouraged. Typically reports to a Team Lead.
Responsibilities:
Apply best practices where possible or engineer new best practices as appropriate.
Analyze new and existing vendor software; install, maintain, and customize vendor software as required.
Consult with end users to identify current operational procedures and clarify user objectives.
Monitor system and application performance to detect errors; apply testing procedures/methodologies (eg, diagnostic software) and provide interpretation of data.
Provide a root-cause analysis for recurring or critical problem
Proficiency using personal computer and associated work station/computer-assisted tools, etc.
Demonstrate commitment to providing customer-focused quality service.
Minimum Requirements:
A 4-year degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of AIX systems administration experience, or equivalent experience
Experience with AIX 5.3 and 6.1, performance monitoring and tuning tools, installation options, problem determination and recovery, and AIX security
Experience with Power5 and or Power6 architectures, including LPAR technology and HMCs
Experience writing and debugging Shell Scripts in a standard UNIX Shell
