Leading Irish Telecoms Provider has a contract requirement for a VOIP Design Engineer based in Dublin.This role will entail the design, dimensioning, test specification, documentation and maintenance of new and amended networks, platforms, services and related systems. As an established design engineer, you will be responsible for developing optimum designs.
Responsibilities
Development of designs and configurations based on Strategies, Architectures and High Level Designs
Development of migration plans to migrate customers, traffic and services from older platforms to replacement platforms
To prepare detailed specifications, estimates, designs, record structures, triggers, rules, interfaces, resilience and contingency plans, including externally sourced solutions.
To develop relevant scripts, configurations, data-build, quality standards and acceptance criteria, to support required solutions
Capacity management, including hardware, memory and processor capacity
Hardware & Software Release management and upgrades
To design solutions ensuring the highest possible availability achievable within the budget.
To ensure that the overall solution design meets best telecommunications technology practices, including the specification of non-functional requirements. eg operational performance.
Skills
Knowledge of best practice in network and service development process.
Proven ability to liaise with Architecture and vendor community in developing solution options
Substantial experience building carrier class applications
Good knowledge of fixed and mobile voice network technologies, architectures, platforms and protocols.
Excellent detailed knowledge of a selection of these platforms including:
o Deep knowledge of the SIP protocol
o Very Good knowledge of relevant network protocols/standards (ITU/ETSI/IETF etc)
o Good knowledge of business IP-PBXs (Avaya, Cisco CallManager) Acme Packet SBC, configuration and troubleshooting
o Good knowledge of the IMS architecture and standards
o Good knowledge of IP Networks - design, implementation and troubleshooting
o Knowledge of Legacy voice technologies
